Milner Continues Good Form with Bat

Henry Milner put in a star batting and fielding performance as Hemingford U9s registered their first victory of the summer against a combined St Ives / Warboys team.
Hemingford put in a top class performance in the field, Finlay Riddoch the star performer conceding just two runs from his 12 deliveries and taking one wicket. Henry Milner was like a ball magnet in the field, taking three catches from the first two overs and making a number of fine stops. Sam M had clearly been working on his bowling action with some great consistency and extra pace. Callum was so unfortunate not to take a wicket, beating the batsmen all ends up but the bails stubbornly refused to dislodge despite being hit. The reliable bowling arms of Jonah and Rupert kept restricted the runs all the way through.

Continuing his good form from the previous game, Henry dispatched pretty much every straight ball to the boundary, finishing on 32 not out from 13 deliveries. Rupert and Jonah continued the onslaught and demonstrated how good running between the wickets can keep the pressure on the opposition. They finished on 25 and 12 respectively, contributing to a final score of 190, by far our highest total so far.
The second game against Waresley was more challenging with pretty much all of our batsmen struggling to get the ball away and conceding wickets. There was much more promise in the field however with fine performances from Ed , Josh and Isaac in particular and a number of opportunistic run outs keeping the score close. Joe Wilkin bowled the final over with some accurate deliveries, but it wasn’t enough to peg the Waresley total back.
A great mornings cricket and its brilliant seeing how much everyone is improving as the summer goes on. Well done to newcomers Harry and Josh who both played really well, particularly in the bowling and fielding.
