U13s Coach and COVID-19 Update

I am delighted to be able to introduce Mike Farmer from Aspired Coaching who is an ECB qualified cricket coach and has done a lot of work for Junior Country Cricket in the region. He has volunteered to run an U13s training session at The Pavilion one evening when we get back, in the hope that we have enough interest and we can make an arrangement with Mike to take on U13s cricket in some capacity later this summer. Some of you might recognise him from the County Hotshots sessions that took place before Christmas.

For those of you with kids who are itching to get back into cricket, government and ECB guidelines now allow 1:1 outdoor training sessions to take place. Mike is available to provide a session for £25 an hour (with discounts for block bookings) at Huntingdon and Warboys Cricket Clubs. He is also hoping to open up sessions at St Ives Outdoor very soon. Please contact him directly at aspiredcoachinguk@gmail.com to make arrangements. Jonah had his first session this morning (photo below), he really enjoyed it and thinks it has already made a big difference to his batting technique.

Otherwise we are still on hold for the start of the cricket season and it seems unlikely there will be any scheduled league games taking place at all. But we are very hopeful that by July, the government will start to allow team sports like cricket and we will commence training as soon as it is safe to do so. We may even be able to squeeze in one or two friendlies, we’ll keep our fingers crossed.
