Thank you Tim and Maria Chambers

As many of you know, Tim and Maria Chambers will no longer be re-applying for their places on the HPCC board this season.

On behalf of the club, I would like to pass on a huge thank you to Tim who has made a colossal contribution to cricket in the Hemingfords. Many of you will know Tim as the All-Stars coach over the past few summers who has done a brilliant job introducing 5-7 year olds into cricket and making it a lot of fun at the same time. The success and popularity of the junior section today can be squarely attributed to Tim’s fantastic work, the current batch of U11s having started in all stars. Tim is stepping down as both Chairman and All-stars coach this year and will be sadly missed in these roles, but he assures us we will still see him around enjoying a pint near the boundary.

In addition, Tim’s wife Maria will also be stepping down as Safeguarding officer this year. Maria worked in the background to ensure Hemingford Cricket Club is a safe and inclusive club for all backgrounds, ages and abilities. Thank you for all the hard work you put in Maria.

This obviously leaves three big holes in the club and we depserately need volunteers to carry on the great work Tim and Maria started.

  • Safeguarding Officer. Unless we have a safeguarding officer in place, youth cricket is not allowed to take place at HPCC this summer. This is not a time consuming role and is ideally suited to a parent who is empathetic, and wants to help but does not necessarily have any cricketing knowledge. This person will need to help ensure our volunteers are vetted and briefed of their responsibilities and be the first point of contact for all staff and volunteers to go to for advice if they are concerned about a child. There is one 3 hour virtual training course required but very little time commitment thereafter.
  • All Stars Activator. Without someone else able to come forward and volunteer, it is unlikely we will be able to run All Stars this year. This will mean 5-7 year olds in Hemingford will miss out on the opportunity to try cricket in a fun and safe environment. Activators are provided with training and there are only 8 All stars sessions per year so it is not a big commitment.
  • HPCC Chairman. As chairman you will have the opportunity to lead the club and develop all aspects of cricket in Hemingford.

Please contact us us urgently if you think you are able to volunteer for any of these roles and keep cricket in Hemingford going this summer.
