Hemingford Youth Cricket – 2021 Plans

As we near the start of the cricket season, the team have started to plan when we start and how we organise ourselves.

All teams will train on Wednesday nights from 5th May, with a sign on day the week before 28th April where you are invited to fill in a membership form and meet the coaches.

U9s will be coached by Stuart Charles, Tim Lowe & Mark Fowler. We will be entering two 6-aside teams who play mini tournament Sunday Mornings.

U11s will be coached by Dave Cope, Keelan Seaman and Paul Fogden. We will be entering 2 8 a side teams;

  • Softball 8 a side pairs, to be played Sunday mornings. This is aimed at the those less confident and / or just want to have fun.
  • Hardball 8 a side, to be played Monday evenings. This is aimed at the more advanced players and has rules more similar to real cricket.

We are looking for players and coaches for U13s again this summer, please get in touch. For now we have entered one hard ball team who play on Thursday evenings, but whether we play depends on if we can find enough volunteers. We do have enthusiastic coaches from the club adult teams ready and willing to help out regularly, we just need a club manager to organise.

There are opportunities in the senior sides for U15 players, both on Saturdays in the league and the more social Friday night games. So please get in touch to keep playing cricket.

Sadly, it is unlikely we will be able to run All-Stars (4yo to Year 2) this year following the recent announcement that Tim is stepping down. But if you are able to help at all, even for a few sessions then please get in contact urgently as we are still exploring all options.

We are also in desperate need for a new Safeguarding Officer and without one in place, no youth cricket can take place this summer. No knowledge of cricket is required and it is a very light touch position, ideal for a parent who wants to help out but can’t commit to training and games.
